Invasive Species Paddle for Lark in the Park

  • Callicoon Riverside Park (map)

Ever wondered about the ‘bamboo’ growing along the Delaware or weird ‘Frakenfish’ you might keep hearing about? Well, join the Catskill Center’s CRISP Aquatic Invasive Species Manager, Sarah Coney, to learn about invasive species in the Delaware Watershed while enjoying a scenic, fall paddle. We’ll focus on invasive plant and animal species found in the Delaware River, how they were introduced, how they impact the environment (and us!), and how to ID them, all while enjoying a beautiful five mile paddle down the Delaware.

The paddle will start at the proposed Callicoon Riverside Park in Callicoon, NY, and end at the DEC Cochecton Boat Access in Cochecton, NY. Participants are asked to bring their own watercraft (Cleaned, Drained, and Dried!) and will need to have transport back to the start of the paddle or shuffle cars. Catskill Center staff are unable to provide transportation between launches, however, participants are free to carpool! Participants should plan to be on the river for about four hours and we encourage participants to bring water, snacks, sunscreen, and whatever else you need to stay safe and have a good time on the water!
