Join the Catskill Center's Catskill Regional Invasive Species Partnership (CRISP) for a hands-on volunteer day dedicated to protecting native trees while exploring the history of invasive species in the Hudson Valley. Volunteers will work in an off-trail area to help install protective tree tubes around native saplings planted earlier this season to reduce deer browsing, while learning proper tool use and safety techniques from the CRISP team.

During the final 30 minutes of the program, we'll dive into the fascinating history of invasive species in the Hudson Valley. Learn when and why familiar invasive plants were introduced, how they spread across the landscape, and the lasting impacts they continue to have on native ecosystems today.

Frequent breaks are encouraged, and water and snacks will be provided. Please dress for work in areas that may include poison ivy, brambles, or ticks.

Registration is required. Please complete all volunteer forms prior to arrival. A limited number of copies will be available on site. All ages are welcome. Participants under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and those under 18 must have permission.
