Join the CRISP Volunteer Aquatic Plant Program!

Help determine what aquatic plants are growing in your lake and record valuable data throughout the Catskills.

Early detection and rapid response are critical to halting the spread of invasive species in the Catskills. CRISP is asking lake owners and enjoyers to assist in detecting aquatic invasive species by surveying their lakefront property and public launches.

It’s quick, easy, and fun! We ask that volunteers sample at least once a month and record their findings on a simple survey.

Why Volunteer?

  • Learn what plants are found in your lake, both native and invasive

  • Assist with Early Detection and Rapid Response in the Catskills

  • Help preserve native ecosystems and recreational opportunities

  • Participate in community science
